At the beginning of the twentieth century, about 10% of the world’s population were living in urban areas, but this rate expanded to about 54% in 2015, and is predicted to reach 60% in 2030 and 66% by 2050 (World Health Organization & UN-Habitat, 2016).Ítem Spain(Taylor and Francis, 2023-08-24) Breden, SimonThis chapter examines some of the most noteworthy theatrical currents in Spain since 1989. However, defining Spanish theatre as a single entity in the present day is an impossible task, given the sharpening identities of regional theatres working in languages other than Spanish, including the co-official languages of Catalan, Basque, and Galician. For this reason, this chapter will not only focus on the two most internationally recognised hubs of Madrid and Barcelona but will also consider the Basque Country, Galicia, and Andalucía. Overall, theatre and performance in Spain continues to grapple with the consequences of the transition from dictatorship to democracy.Ítem El arbitraje y la mediación como mecanismos para el fortalecimiento de la tutela judicial efectiva. Simultaneously, ill-designed incentives’ schemes have favored the development of a culture in which excessive greed, free-riders’ behavior, unreasonable appetite for risk, and short-term decision making have endangered the economy and, potentially, have laid the foundations for financial, economic, social, and environmental crises. In this chapter, we review current challenges in the financial industry from the lens of human and social capital. We examine some of the factors that allowed unethical behavior and a short-term financial focus in the financial sector, examining how compensation and an extremely competitive culture became key elements that favored greedy and manipulative behavior and ultimately generated socially harmful human and social capital in the financial sector. Finally, we discuss the emergence of a number of game-changers (namely, Brexit, FinTech, the growing relevance of ethical standards, and the increasing participation of women and millennials in the industry) that might represent potential promotors of change and help restructure and reshape the financial industry.Ítem Spain: advances and remaining challenges in sustainable finance(Springer Nature, 2025) Larreina Díaz, Mikel; Goicoechea Zulaica, EstíbalizSpain is expected to be one of the EU countries suffering more from global warming. Public opinion has been deeply concerned for a long time, but government action in aligning financial flows with investment goals compatible with the Paris Agreement has recently increased. This chapter reviews recent laws in Spain connected to sustainable finance and the reports that Spanish financial supervisors have published on this topic. The main challenges observable in Spain are discussed, together with some areas for further development, such as aligning taxation in the financial industry with sustainability.Ítem Aprendizaje-servicio para la formación integral de los estudiantes de empresa(Editorial Síntesis, 2023) Eizaguirre, Almudena ; García-Feijoo, María; Marco-Gardoqui, MartaÍtem Construyendo identidades desde las competencias de la orientación educativa en la formación inicial(Dykinson, 2022) Yáñez Marquina, Lara ; Martínez de la Hidalga, Zoe ; Flores, LirioÍtem The Behobia: San Sebastian race—promoting sport, health and the quality of community life(Springer Nature Singapore, 2021) García Arrizabalaga, Iñaki; Gibaja Martíns, Juan José; Mujika Alberdi, AlazneFortuna Sports Club (FSC) is a fourth-sector organisation located in San Sebastián (Basque Country, Spain). It organizes the race between Behobia and San Sebastián. The promotion of healthy lifestyles among the participants is one of the main concerns of the organisers. This social marketing aim seems to have been met. To prepare for the race, participants alter aspects of their lifestyle linked to health. In terms of the traditional perspective of Quality of Life (QOL), FSC increases runner’s well-being. FSC is also concerned about other social marketing goals related to social changes. The “50/50/25 Programme”, that aims to achieve parity between female and male participants in the race, or the work carried out to make it easier for people with physical disabilities to take part in the race are aspects that stand out in a fun run, organised by a non-profit sports club, that considers sport to be a tool that can also be used to improve the health and quality of life of its fellow citizens. Indeed, the social marketing perspective is in the DNA of the FSC and QOL marketing philosophy is fully included in it: customer well-being is complemented preserving society’s well-being.Ítem The Spanish rejoinder to Youth Guarantee(Palgrave Macmillan, 2020) Maiztegui Oñate, Concepción; Tuparevska, Elena; Moro, ÁlvaroThis chapter discusses the approach to Youth Guarantee (YG) in Spain in the context of high percentage of school dropout rates, high youth unemployment and a large number of people Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET). Furthermore, it provides a detailed context of how the YG was implemented within the complex territorial governance system and heterogeneity of the target groups. The chapter illustrates how the adaptation of the Spanish system to the YG intensified the partnership between the public administration and local non-governmental organisations, which coincided with an increase in the educational level of the population, the incorporation of young people into new training activities and labour, and a decrease in the NEETs population.Ítem La felicidad (y la) estética: autonomía y humanitas ante la cultura de la positividad superficial(Herder, 2022) Caro Rey, JonatanCon una tibia base en la denominada «psicología positiva» se ha globalizado un fenómeno social y políticamente preocupante. The EDBA developed not only presents an improved movement strategy, but it also combines with diverse heuristic operators to deal with this type of complex problems. One of the main new concepts is to unify the search process and the minimization of the routes and total distance in the same operators. This hybridization is achieved by using selective node extractions and subsequent reinsertions. In addition, the new approach analyzes all the routes that compose a solution with the intention of enhancing the diversification ability of the search process. In this study, several variants of the EDBA are shown and tested in order to measure the quality of both metaheuristic algorithms and their operators. The benchmark experiments have been carried out by using the 56 instances that compose the 100 customers Solomon’s benchmark. Two statistical tests have also been carried out so as to analyze the results and draw proper conclusions.
