Resumen
Azken 40 urteetako euskal hiztun-kopurua asko hazi da, batez ere, hiztun berrien, euskaldunberrien taldearen hazkundeari esker. Ikerketa honetan, euskal hiztun berritzat euskara familia-transmisioa ez den beste modu batean ikasi dutenak jo dira. Talde honen ezaugarriak ezagutzea euskararen etorkizunaren ikuspegitik erabakigarria izan daitekeela jakitun, euskaldunberrien inguruko ikerketa bat bideratu da, besteak beste, honakoak aztertzeko helburu duena: zein diren euskal hiztun berriek euskararekiko dituzten jarrerak eta motibazioak, euren burua euskal hiztun benetakotzat duten eta hizkuntza erabiltze edota transmititzeari buruz zein uste duten. Artikulu honetan euskaldunberrien inguruko ikerketa honen behin-behineko emaitza batzuk eskainiko dira.
Over the last 40 years the number of Basque speakers has grown significantly, thanks to the growth of the group of new Basque speakers. This piece of research focuses on those regarded as Basque speakers but who have learnt not through family transmission but by other means. Aware that knowledge about the characteristics of this group could be decisive from the perspective of the future of Basque, a piece of research was conducted into new Basque speakers, and its aim, among other things, was to find out the following: the attitudes and motivations of new Basque speakers with respect to Basque, whether they regard themselves as real Basque speakers and what they think about the use or transmission of the language. This article will be offering provisional results on the research into new Basque speakers
