Resumen
A través de este artículo, se pretende presentar los conventos masculinos franciscanos que han existido en Vizcaya. Para ello, en primer lugar se trata el nacimiento de los cinco conventos que se dio durante la Edad Media. A continuación, las relaciones y problemas que vivieron los conventos, a veces entre ellos mismos, durante el Antiguo Régimen, y, finalmente, la desaparición gradual de los claustros durante el siglo xIx. Asimismo, también se hacen referencias a la actualidad, tanto si existen como si no, y qué ha sido del espacio en el que existió la comunidad. Obviamente se ha utilizado bibliografía existente, pero la base y, a la par, la novedad de este artículo son las fuentes documentales que se utilizan, muchas de ellas inéditas. Además, también se ha querido ver las diferencias y similitudes que existieron entre las comunidades, y no presentarlas de manera individual, como se ha hecho en ocasiones anteriores.
The aim of this paper is to introduce the male Franciscan convents of Biscay. Hence, the paper first deals with the medieval birth of the five convents. Afterwards, the paper focuses on the problems and relations that existed during the Early Modern Period. Finally, it also takes into account the ending of these convents during the 19th century and notes if these communities still exist today. Obviously a rich bibliography has been used, but this paper is based on documents from different archives that have never been used before
