Resumen
Las pinturas realizadas por Louis Soutter cabe encuadrarlas tanto dentro del llamado arte de enfermos mentales, como del ‘art brut’. Lo más característico de estas pinturas concierne a su acusado expresionismo y al hecho de estar protagonizada por sombras. Indagaremos en el sentido precisamente de la sombra y lo pondremos en relación con su significación en el imaginario contemporáneo.
When Louis Soutter arrives at a geriatric institution, he begins to paint a serial of dark drawings. These drawings, close to Art brut, are characterized by the continuously presence of histrionic shadows, and by their nearness to an expressionist gesture. We will study the sense of the shadow and we will link it with the contemporary imaginary.
