El “último” Habermas: la religión en el ámbito público de las sociedades modernas

Resumen
influyentes en la actualidad, para todos aquellos interesados en el conocimiento crítico de la sociedad de nuestro tiempo. Si durante gran parte de su obra apenas se había interesado en la religión, considerada como una etapa de la evolución sociocultural de la humanidad en camino de ser superada y sustituida por la razón comunicativa, su opinión ha cambiado de manera importante en las dos últimas décadas, hasta el punto de representar hoy un papel relevante en su visión del mundo moderno. En este artículo nos proponemos, por tanto, acercarnos a este “último Habermas” que se ocupa de forma inédita sobre la religión en el ámbito público de las sociedades modernas, y analizar sus principales aportaciones, algunas de las cuales representan un importante cambio respecto a sus ideas anteriores y, lo que no es menos importante, representan un cambio cualitativo en su propia percepción de la modernidad occidental actual.
Jürgen Habermas, German philosopher and sociologist, is one of the most important and influential thinkers in present, for all persons interested in the critical knowledge of modern society. If during largely of this work he not almost to became interest in religion, conceived it like an stage of the sociocultural evolution of humanity, whose destination was be overtaken and replace for the communicative reason, his opinion had changed in a considerable way in the two last decades, to the point that to represent nowadays a relevant role in his vision of the modern world. In this article we propose to approach therefore this “last Habermas”, that to deal with religion in the public sphere of the modern societies, for the first time, and to analyze his principal ideas, which many of them represent an important change with regard to previous ideas and, which is no less important, represent a qualitative change in his own perception of the present occidental modernity.
