This chapter examines the main characteristics of equity mutual funds managed by women in Europe. Our results highlight the significant role female fund managers play in promoting sustainable investment practices. Specifically, our findings suggest that female managers tend to adopt lower-risk strategies, favouring options with reduced ESG-related risks. Additionally, funds managed by women are more often categorised as Article 8 under the EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), while they are less commonly designated as Article 9, which explicitly focuses on sustainable investments. Furthermore, portfolio diversification, fund age, and fund size positively correlate with female management, whereas geographical diversification and size variance show a negative correlation.en
