Resumen
El debate acerca de los derechos de los animales se está convirtiendo en uno de los más importantes de los últimos años. Autores como Singer, Regan o, en nuestro país, Riechmann, de Lora, Horta o Mosterín hablan ya de la necesidad de que algunos animales posean los mismos derechos de los seres humanos. El Proyecto Gran Simio ha llegado, incluso, A debatirse en algunos parlamentos. Frente a todo ello, la mayor parte de los filósofos y juristas “tradicionales” apenas se han ocupado del tema. Este texto pretende cubrir en parte esta carencia, ofreciendo argumentos en contra de la obligación moral de ofrecer derechos a los animales.
The discussion about the animal rights is becoming nowadays one of the most important ones in the fields of philosophy or laws. Authors such us Singer, Regan, or, in the Latin countries, Riechmann, de Lora, Horta or Mostrerin talk about our moral duty to recognize to some animals the same rights we recognize to the human beings. The Great Ape Project has been even discussed in some of our Parliaments. However, “traditional” philosophers and lawyers do not seem to have in mind any answers to these challenges. The purpose of this paper is to face this fact, arguing why we are not obligated to consider animal rights.
