dc.description.abstractEste trabajo persigue un doble objetivo: por una parte acercarnos a la figura del ingeniero universal Agustín de Betancourt a través de las memorias de su secretario Filipp Vigel entre 1816 y 1818; y por otra parte reivindicar desde la crítica histórica la figura de Agustín de Betancourt, y al mismo tiempo la de su familia frente a la opinión mordaz y cáustica de Filipp Vigel, que roza las descalificaciones y las habladurías; además de mostrar documentalmente las mentiras e impostura del arquitecto francés Auguste de Montferrand, subordinado de Agustín de Betancourt, que se atribuyó a sí mismo la autoría de la catedral de San Isaac, un edificio icónico de San Petersburgo y la columna dedicada al zar Alejandro I en la plaza del Palacio de Invierno, cuando el verdadero autor de estas obras fue Agustín de Betancourt, y Auguste de Montferrand estuvo a sus órdenes.es
dc.description.abstractThis work pursues a twofold objective: on the one hand, to approach the figure of the universal engineer Agustín de Betancourt through the «Memoirs» of his secretary Filipp Vigel between 1816 and 1818; and on the other hand, to vindicate from a historical-criticalperspective the figure of Agustín de Betancourt, and at the same time of his family, in contrast to the biting and caustic opinion of Filipp Vigel, which borders on disparagement and gossip. It also aims to document the falsehoods and imposture of the French architect Auguste de Montferrand, a subordinate of Agustín de Betancourt, who likewise claimed authorship of Saint Isaac’s Cathedral, an iconic building of Saint Petersburg, and of the column dedicated to Tsar Alexander I in Palace Square at the Winter Palace, when the true author of these works was Agustín de Betancourt, and Auguste de Montferrand served under his command.en
