Resumen
Favourable entrepreneurial ecosystems play a critical role in promoting the creation, survival and growth of firms. Yet, despite the presumed benefits of such ecosystems, gender disparities in entrepreneurship continue to persist. The COVID-19 pandemic, as an external shock, has recently disrupted people's entry into entrepreneurial careers and has further widened the gender gap. This study surveyed over 100,000 adults from 43 countries during the pandemic crisis to analyse the impact of entrepreneurial ecosystems on reducing gender disparities in entrepreneurship. The results indicate that a supportive ecosystem is particularly crucial in facilitating women's entrepreneurial pursuits in a period of adversity.
