Los estereotipos y emociones negativas proyectadas sobre la imagen amenazante del islam tienen una incidencia directa en las formas de reconocimiento de la diversidad y en la convivencia; por ejemplo, en el uso del burka o niqab, en la provisión de alimentos de acuerdo a las creencias religiosas o en la ubicación de lugares de culto y cementerios. Este artículo analiza, en primer lugar, qué tratamiento jurídico se le atribuye al islam en estos casos concretos de gestión del espacio público; en segundo lugar, reflexiona sobre los límites y las contradicciones que se presentan para prevenir ataques islamófobos; y concluye que los posibles conflictos de convivencia se derivan de la falta de respeto a los derechos humanos en clave de igualdad.
The negative stereotypes and emotions projected onto a threatening image of Islam directly influence the ways diversity and coexistence are recognised, for example, in the wearing of the burqa or niqab, in the provision of food in accordance with religious beliefs and in the location of places of worship and cemeteries. This article first analyses the legal treatment of Islam in these specific cases of managing the public space; second, it reflects on the limits and contradictions that arise in the prevention of Islamophobic attacks; and it concludes that possible failures of coexistence derive from the lack of respect for human rights in terms of equality.
