Ítem Polarization-tunable negative or positive refraction in self-complementariness-base-d extraordinary transmission prism(Electromagnetics Academy, 2010-04-13) Navarro Cía, Miguel; Beruete Díaz, Miguel; Falcone, Francisco; Sorolla Ayza, Mario; Campillo Santos, IgorHere we report a prism made of stacked quasi-self-complementary extraordinary transmission surfaces which allows simultaneously left- and right-handed propagation within the V-band for vertical and horizontal polarizations, respectively and right-handed propagation within the W-band for both polarizations. The numerical dispersion diagram of the infinite structure and effective indexes of refraction retrieved from S-parameters under normal incidence together with the finite integration time domain simulations predict single negative and double positive birefringence. The unusual type of birefringence single negative and regular double positive birefringence are afterwards demonstrated experimentally at the millimeter-waves (V- and W-bands) by the wedge experiment which lets us check, using a straightforward geometrical method, the refraction of each component. The effective index of refraction is retrieved via the Snell's law and compared to those obtained through the dispersion diagram and the retrieval method from S-parameters computed with the commercial software CST Microwave StudioTM.Ítem Regular and anomalous extraordinary pptical transmission at the THz-gap(Optical Society of America (OSA), 2009-06-29) Kuznecov, Sergej Aleksandrovič; Navarro Cía, Miguel; Kubarev, Vitaly V.; Gelfand, Alexander V. ; Beruete Díaz, Miguel; Campillo Santos, Igor ; Sorolla Ayza, MarioIn this paper Anomalous Extraordinary Transmission (ET) is reported for s-polarization of low loss doubly periodic subwavelength hole arrays patterned on polypropylene (PP) substrates by conventional contact photolithography at the so-called THz-gap (1-10 THz). The unexpected enhanced transmittance for s-polarization (i.e. without spoof plasmons) was previously numerically demonstrated in subwavelength slits arrays. However, subsequently no experimental work has been devoted to this unexpected Extraordinary Transmission neither in subwavelength slits nor in subwavelength holes. Here, numerical study and experimental results of the Anomalous ET and the symmetric and antisymmetric transmittance modes associated with the already well-known p-polarization ET are shown alongside a systematically analysis of the frequency peaks as a function of hole size for both incident polarizations.
