    La cooperativa energética GoiEner: una iniciativa de la Economía Social frente al desafío del decrecimiento

    La actual situación de crisis climática, agotamiento de recursos y crecientes desigualdades ha motivado la aparición de diversas propuestas alternativas al modelo económico convencional. Surge entre ellas la propuesta del decrecimiento, que cuestiona el desarrollismo imperante y plantea una reducción en el uso de recursos, así como su reparto más equitativo. Con el fin de analizar su viabilidad, resulta necesario estudiar la existencia de iniciativas decrecentistas en la práctica. Para ello, mediante la metodología del triángulo ético y la caracterización del decrecimiento a partir de sus principios normativos y aplicados, se analiza el caso de la cooperativa energética vasca GoiEner, con objeto de determinar si puede ser considerada una organización plenamente decrecentista. El análisis demuestra que, si bien GoiEner no lo es todavía, en caso de que avanzara en el cumplimiento de los principios definidos tiene el potencial de llegar a serlo en un futuro.

    GoiEner energy cooperative a social economy initiative facing the challenge of degrowth

    The current situation of climate crisis, resource depletion and growing inequalities has led to the emergence of several alternative proposals to the conventional economic model. Among them arises the proposal of degrowth, which questions the current developmentalism and proposes a reduction in the use of resources, as well as a more equitable distribution of them. To analyse its viability, it is necessary to study the existence of degrowth initiatives in practice. For this purpose, using the methodology of the ethical triangle and the characterization of degrowth based on its normative and applied principles, the case of the Basque energy cooperative GoiEner is analysed to determine whether it can be considered a fully degrowth organization. The analysis shows that, although GoiEner is not yet one, by making progress in complying with the defined principles, it has the potential to become one in the future.

    A ‘transformation compass’ for social and solidarity economy initiatives in their transition towards Postgrowth

    The current climate crisis and global inequalities trigger intense debates on the need of achieving socioecological transitions towards environmentally and socially just scenarios. In this context, the Social and Solidarity Economy and Postgrowth paradigms could play a major role in leading these transitions. The strong convergence between their principles opens the door for this article’s main contribution: a Transformation Compass. This tool allows Social and Solidarity Economy initiatives to approach a Postgrowth economy through a well-defined matrix, which incorporates Hinton’s (2021) characterization of postgrowth businesses. In addition, this Compass helps to assess the factors and dimensions that affect different initiatives during this process.
